Since 2006, the founders of BCN have posted more than 100 videos to YouTube. These videos have been viewed more than 500,000 times on our combined YouTube pages. After 14 years of releasing content on their platform, we have accumulated less than 1 cent in earned revenue. Anyone who makes content for children on YouTube gets $0 because they do not allow for ads. In 2020, YouTube’s revenues exceeded 19 Billion dollars. A tiny fraction of that is being paid to the artists that drive their business, and an even smaller percentage is going to BIPOC content creators.
The Black Children’s Network is the first ever streaming platform producing video series, movies, and music programs designed to educate, entertain, and inspire Black children and families. We are building a profit sharing model, where artists can earn revenue from day one of streaming content on our platform.
